Blogging Resources

Readers often ask questions about what kinds of tools I use behind the scenes to run this blog.  Here’s a rundown if you’re curious, and feel free to contact me if there’s anything I’m missing.

  • Renovated Learning is a self-hosted WordPress blog, hosted by BlueHost – I like self-hosting because it gives me a lot more design control over my blog.
  • My blog’s theme is from Themeforest, and I use Visual Composer to design my pages – I like using a custom theme because it lets me distinguish the look of my blog.  The theme running here is Lifebook, but it’s no longer available.
  • I schedule my tweets through Buffer – the free plan lets you schedule 10 at a time, the paid plan is pretty much unlimited (not really, but I’ve never hit the limit)
  • I schedule my my pins on Pinterest through Tailwind – this is a super awesome tool that lets you schedule Pins out so that you’re not bombarding people with a billion at once.  Plus, it gives you stats on your Pins.

Tech Resources

  • Canva for Work – I make all my graphics for the blog through here. The free version of Canva works great, but I love that Canva for work lets you create templates and a brand kit to give your work consistency.
  • Canon Rebel SL1 DSLR and my iPhone 6s – I love photography and I use both my Canon and my iPhone to shoot images for the blog.  I love that the Rebel SL1 has the power of a DSLR in a compact body
  • Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 – For recording webinars – the video quality is way better than my laptop’s built-in camera
  • Moo Mini Cards – My absolute favorite business cards.  Check out Gwyneth’s awesome tutorial on how to design them
  • MailChimp – I use MailChimp to run my e-mail newsletter.
